PROJECT TYPE: Refurbishment

7,500 m2 of carpet tiles

Located on the fringe of Melbourne CBD, 75 Dorcas Street in South Melbourne is home to ANZ’s bustling call-centre. The recent redeveloped called for a reinvented space that enabled flexibility of teams, focused on collaboration zones and instilled a sense of pride for all employees.

The project involved the refurbishment of the existing building including the main entry, various levels, amenities and lobby areas.

Hot Black Architects pushed the boundaries to ensure that the collaboration and communication values of ANZ were encompassed in all facets, resulting in the first completely agile call centre. The project was recently nominated for the Commercial Interior category of the Driven x Design Awards Program.

The design of the up-market facility caters to a busy workplace. A bright and energetic palette infuses the space with playful environmental graphics and integrated wayfinding strategies across the multiple levels a key feature. A high value is placed on the functionality of each finish to ensure superior performance over the product life-cycle.

The flooring installation component of the project demonstrated a medium degree of difficulty. Installers were challenged by Covid restrictions, tight timelines and the navigation of lay over access flooring.

The flooring installation component of the project was managed by HANMAR and staged to minimise disruption. Despite COVID restrictions and local lockdown challenges, works were completed to a high standard and within the given deadline and budget.
